It’s free to enroll in Nexamp Community Solar. You only pay us for the credits generated at a discount.
The billing process has two steps. First, your share of the solar farm's output is calculated and credited to your utility account as a negative line item—this lowers the amount you owe to your utility provider for that month.
Then, Nexamp bills you for the value of these credits, minus your 30% discount*. For example, if your solar credits are worth $100 and you have a 30% discount, you would save $100 on your utility bill but only pay Nexamp $70. It's similar to purchasing a $100 prepaid gift card for your utility costs at the price of $70.
No. Your power will continue to be delivered by your current utility provider. What we do is supply our energy into their grid. If you ever experience an issue or a power outage, you'll receive the same service from the same team you always have.
You always have the option to change your share of the farm or to cancel without penalty, with 90 days written notice.

*Maine’s community solar program does not allow Nexamp to offset your utility’s minimum customer charge that has increased dramatically in recent years. Savings are applied to community solar bill credits. Your bill credit value is based on your utility’s residential Standard Offer rate. You’ll pay Nexamp for those credits at a 30% discount for the first 24 months, then 20% for the remainder of your term, helping you save on your electric bill. Most customers are matched with a local solar farm and begin seeing savings within 2 - 3 months of enrollment.

The amount of promotional credit applied to each invoice will be based on the amount the you owe to Nexamp for community solar credits in a given billing cycle, up to a maximum of one hundred dollars ($100) per month. If your invoice total is less than one hundred dollars ($100) in a billing cycle, the promotional credit applied will not exceed the invoice amount, and any remaining promotional credit will be available for future billing cycles until the full promotional credit is used or forfeited due to program cancellation.
If you cancel your participation in the community solar program before the full promotional credit is applied, any remaining unused promotional credit shall be forfeited and will not be applied to any future billing cycle. No prorated or lump-sum application of the remaining balance will be permitted. The promotional credit will not cover any additional portion of your utility bill, including but not limited to taxes, delivery charges, or any utility charges not offset by the community solar credit.
